About SolarEdge

SolarEdge has shaped the way solar PV systems work for over a decade. Their solar inverters and PV power optimisers are designed to improve energy yield at the individual panel level, even in less-than-ideal conditions such as shading or mixed roof angles.

Combined with built-in safety systems and real-time monitoring, SolarEdge technology helps your system produce more electricity, stay consistent over time, and give you a clear view of its day-to-day performance.

Choosing a SolarEdge installation from Sunlite means you are choosing the world’s number 1 smart home solar energy system, designed to generate more green power.

What are the Benefits of SolarEdge?

Here are some key features to consider:

SolarEdge inverters are built to work directly with their power optimisers, helping your panels run efficiently and consistently. Whether you choose a compact single-phase unit or a larger three-phase system, you’ll benefit from reliable performance and strong output.

With SolarEdge power optimisers, each panel works independently. That means your system can keep producing energy even if some panels are shaded or installed at different angles — improving your overall generation and reducing losses.

SolarEdge inverters include a 12-year warranty, while their power optimisers are protected for 25 years, reflecting their durability and long-term performance.

Your SolarEdge system can adapt as your requirements change. Adding a battery, EV charger, or other compatible accessories is straightforward, giving you options to expand your system over time.

The SolarEdge online platform lets you track how much energy you’re generating and using, right down to individual panel performance. Sunlite can also access this data remotely, allowing us to offer ongoing support and resolve issues quickly. Accessible from your computer, smartphone or tablet, and even by your Solar installer, the SolarEdge monitoring app allows you to pinpoint exact failures remotely, so that faults can be resolved efficiently.

Arc-fault detection and automatic panel shutdown features are built in, offering additional protection for your property and extra peace of mind.

    FAQS Answered: SolarEdge Systems

    Is SolarEdge worth it?

Yes. SolarEdge systems typically generate more electricity than standard string inverter systems because of their panel-level optimisation, helping you achieve a stronger return on investment.

Yes, SolarEdge systems can work off-grid or provide reliable backup power, but they need specific components like the SolarEdge Home Backup Interface and batteries to disconnect from the grid during outages and run independently.

SolarEdge supports compatibility with numerous brands of solar batteries, such as the Tesla Powerwall and Givenergy all-in-one battery. However, it’s important to note that product compatibility may change over time as SolarEdge’s technology evolves. If you are looking to install the most efficient and coherent system possible, our team would recommend using SolarEdge’s own battery, the SolarEdge Energy Bank for your installation. When you choose to install a different brand of battery alongside a Solaredge system, you will need to also install an AC Controller, which means your battery would be controlled via a different app, and not be as efficient as a DC-coupled system.

A SolarEdge EV charger is a smart home charging solution designed to help you make the most of your solar energy when powering your electric vehicle. It can prioritise charging your EV using excess solar generation, helping to reduce reliance on grid electricity and lower running costs. With features like smart scheduling, remote control via the mySolarEdge app, and dynamic load balancing, it offers a convenient and efficient way to charge at home while keeping your household energy use running smoothly.

Yes. The SolarEdge platform provides detailed performance data for each panel, helping you identify any issues quickly and easily.

A SolarEdge power optimiser is a small device fitted to each solar panel to help it perform at its best. It uses Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) to maximise output from every panel, even if some panels are affected by shade, dirt, or mismatch. This can improve overall system generation and also enables panel-level monitoring for better performance tracking and safety.

Yes. Safety features like arc-fault detection and automatic shutdown are built into the system to help protect your property.

The SolarEdge Energy Bank is a smart home battery that stores your extra solar energy during the day, so you can use it whenever you need it — like in the evening, overnight, or when electricity prices are higher. It’s a great way to get more value from your solar system, boost your energy independence, and enjoy added peace of mind with backup power options when installed as part of a compatible SolarEdge setup.
